Songfacts®:

  • "Poland" is a sparse 1:20 track where Lil Yachty croons about traveling with a supply of lean.

I took the Wock' to Poland
I took the Wock' to Poland
I took the Wock' to Poland

Lean is an illicit and addictive drink made of soda or fruit juice mixed with prescription-strength cough syrup and hard candy. Wockhardt, a pharmaceutical company founded in India in the 1960s, manufactures the cough syrup, hence "the wock." Why Yachty states he "took the Wock' to Poland" is unclear. There is no record of the rapper having ever visited the Eastern European country.
  • Lean features prominently in hip-hop lyrics; other rappers have referred to variants of Wockhardt.

In 2021, Moneybagg Yo dropped a hit single titled "Wockesha."

On "All In," Lil Baby raps:

    Sippin' wockiana, come here, thotiana

And on Internet Money's "Lemonade," Gunna spits:

I'm a rockstar, play guitars, sippin' Wock'.
  • The rest of the song comprises one verse where Yachty, armed with his KelTec pistol, ponders if his girl really loves him. He continues to talk about sipping lean ("I been leaning Wock") and his craving for the pharmaceutical drug ("I been fiending Wock).
  • Philadelphia producer Filthy created the beat. Filthy also has production credits for the likes of Playboi Carti ("Stop Breathing"), and Bladee ("Gatekeeper").
  • Lil Yachty recorded "Poland" in 2021 but it remained unheard until a snippet leaked online on August 31, 2022. Responding to the leak, Yachty released the track exclusively on SoundCloud. It quickly went viral as the "I took the Wock to Poland" hook triggered interest. This led to an official release on all streaming platforms on October 11, 2022.
