Songfacts®:

  • LuvBug is a trio of dance producers comprising Marvin Humes (formerly one of the members of JLS), Manchester-based producer The White N3rd, and producer/songwriter JKAY. The latter has known Humes since they were teenagers. He told Official Charts Website: "We literally lived two minutes from each other in South East London, I was doing early production and Marv was songwriting and doing his solo stuff. Throughout the years I've done stuff with JLS as well and then, when Marv started DJing, he had the idea for the whole LuvBug thing and introduced me to Scott [The White N3rd] and we started making music together."

"We just clicked in the first session we did," JKAY added. "It wasn't planned, it just came out really good and we decided to carry on, and here we are!"
  • LuvBug started working on material in April 2013, initially releasing a series of remixes for the likes of Leah McFall & will.i.am, Inner City, Case & Foxy Brown. This is their debut single after singing to Polydor Records.
  • It was Humes who suggested Talay Riley as the song's vocalist. The British R&B singer had previously collaborated with Chipmunk, co-penning the rapper's UK chart-topper, "Oopsy Daisy" and supplying vocals for his Top Ten hit "Look For Me."
  • Marvin Humes came up with the Luvbug moniker. He explained to Digital Spy: "I guess it's a little bit of a nod to the garage record, which was called 'Love Bug' [Ramsey and Fen]. All of us are big fans of old school garage and stuff. So I guess subliminally I had that in my head. I put together a garage mix-tape about 18 months ago and I kicked off the mix-tape with 'Love Bug'. I don't know, I don't know if they spelt it the same, I don't think they did."
