Songfacts®:

  • Mad Sneaks are a Brazilian band whose lyrics are typically in their native Portuguese. They made inroads with their first album, Incógnita, which was released in 2013 and produced by Jack Endino, whose previous clients include Nirvana, Soundgarden and Mudhoney.

"Limbo" is their first song with English lyrics. Vocalist/guitarist Agno Dissan told us the story behind the song: "'Limbo' is a song that talks about the 'lost' side of the mind, where many people in despair, without destiny, usually hide in search of comfort and answers. The song is based on a true story, when a few years ago we met a middle-aged man lost in his own thoughts and daydreams. He appeared out of thin air and told us he lost almost his entire family (wife, daughter and grandchildren). A terrible accident took seven people he loved and that is exactly what we say in the chorus of the song:

I've been shot with seven bullets to my heart
I failed to die, but the pain remains from void inside

He seemed to be lost in this world, in his fears and sorrows, saying that he would leave everything behind to try to find the way again. We met him in a day and never saw him again. We've never told this story to anyone since now, but we were sad and a little shocked with it and decided to immortalize it in the form of a song."
