Songfacts®:

  • "Beggin'" was originally recorded by the Four Seasons, whose version reached #16 in the US in 1967. The British group Timebox covered it the following year, peaking at #38 in their native country in the summer of 1968. In 2007 a re-mixed dance version by French DJ Pilooski took the song to #32 in the UK. The Norwegian hip-hop group Madcon finally took the tune into the UK Top 10 in 2008 after it topped the chart in their native Norway for seven weeks and became the country's top-selling song of 2007.
  • Madcon, short for Mad Conspiracy, are a Norwegian hip-hop/rap duo comprised of Tshawe Baqwa (otherwise known as Kapricon) and Yosef Wolde-Mariam (otherwise known as Critical).
  • This was produced by production trio 3Elementz, who also played all the instruments on this song. The Madcon duo supplied the vocals. 3Elementz also produced Taylor Dayne's "Beautiful," which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club chart in May 2008.
  • Long-term Four Seasons songwriter Bob Gaudio together with Peggy Farina penned this song. Peggy Farina was better known as Peggy Santiglia and was part of the Angels lineup that had a hit in 1963 with "My Boyfriend's Back." As a session singer under the name of Jessica James she sang backing vocals on Lou Christie's 1966 hit "Rhapsody In The Rain."
  • The Italian rock band Måneskin recorded a cover of the song for their 2017 Chosen EP. Their version peaked at #39 on the Italian Singles Chart and later went Gold. Following the band's Eurovision success four years later, the song started charting across Europe, topping the charts in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia and Switzerland. It also peaked at #13 on the US Billboard Hot 100, #9 in Canada, and #6 in the UK.
