Songfacts®:

  • Described by the online biography Telling The Story Of Magnum as "a mysterious song about nightmares and fairytales", this track is one of the band's crowd pleasers. Running to 4 minutes 59 seconds and backed by "Before First Light", the title track of the band's fifth studio album was released on FM records in May 1985, but in spite of its overt commerciality, the single failed to chart.

They had better luck with the album, which really broke through for them, but the definitive recording of this song has to be the 1991 live version from The Spirit on which it runs to 5 minutes 14 seconds.

"On A Storyteller's Night" was written by lead guitarist Tony Clarkin. >>
