Songfacts®:

  • This commentary on celebrity culture finds Carey working with an old collaborator, Q-Tip. She previously worked with the rapper and record producer on her 1997 single "Honey." Speaking to Radio.com prior to mixing the song, Carey admitted. "He's angry with me because he thinks that I didn't allow him to do his mix, but really it's okay. He loves me, we're going to make this work. And that's good because it's one of my favorite songs. I'm going to call him soon…I think we need to get that ready."
  • This contains a sample from "Goin' Up in Smoke," which was the title track of former Temptations vocalist Eddie Kendricks' 1976 solo album.
  • Carey opened the 2014 World Music Awards with a performance of this tune. During the ceremony, she was given the Pop Icon Award for selling more than 200 million records worldwide and having more #1 singles than any other solo artist in the US.
  • This is featured on Carey's 14th studio album, Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse. It was her last album released via Def Jam before moving on to Epic Records with her next release, Caution.
