Songfacts®:

  • The title track of Ritual Spirit, the EP consists of four tracks previewed previously on the Fantom app. The iPhone application remixes songs using heartbeat, location and time of day.
  • This song features vocals by Azekel (pronounced ay-ze-key-el), who is a singer-songwriter, musician and producer from East London.
  • Massive Attack teamed up with British model Kate Moss for the song's stark music video. Robert "3D" Del Naja said of the collaboration, "Me and Kate have been friends for years, but had never collaborated, so last year we booked a studio with Medium and set up a shoot. During the session Kate was dancing in the dark, lighting herself with a naked bulb. She perfectly captured the essence of this track… intimate and ritualistic. We edited it back in Bristol to keep it raw with no re-touching, I didn't want to lose the spirit of that moment."

Moss has previously appeared in music videos by The White Stripes ("I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself"), Paul McCartney ("Queenie Eye") and Elton John ("Something About the Way You Look Tonight").
