Songfacts®:

  • Joe Mount told NME: "This is an instrumental, but that follows months of me trying to write a spoken word thing to go over the top. I'm still too self-conscious."
  • The term "boy racer" was originally a nickname given to the AJS Model 7R racing motorcycle, which was manufactured for the mass market in the late 1940s. Then in the 1990s it began to be used as a dismissive term for flash young men who drive fast and aggressively speeding away from traffic lights, playing loud music, and revving their engines.
