Songfacts®:

  • The first single from Missy Elliott's second album, this song is best remembered for the black cat-suit Missy wore in the music video, which was directed by Hype Williams. The outfit was designed by Marilyn Manson's tailor.
  • "She's a Bitch" is really about a double standard. Elliott explained to the Daily Telegraph: "When a guy acts in a certain manner it's thought of as healthy aggression, but when a female acts in the same way she's called a bitch: all it really means is a female knowing what she wants."
  • Elliott wanted to name the Da Real World album after this track, but was worried about censorship issues. "I wanted it to get into K-Mart," she said.
