Album: Grand Romantic (2015)

  • Nate Ruess explained the inspiration for this Grand Romantic track during a Reddit AMA: "I was really obsessed with the song 'Nothing Compares 2 U' and the George Michael song 'One More Try,'" he said. "And I wanted to make a song in the same vein. And it ended up being a little more country-esque (which is never a bad thing)."
  • Ruess told Rolling Stone: "[The perspective is from] two different characters. When I sing in a high voice I'm singing from the other person in the relationship."
