Songfacts®:

  • Neck Deep are a Welsh pop-punk band comprising vocalist Ben Barlow, lead guitarist Lloyd Roberts, rhythm guitarist Matt West, bassist Fil Thorpe-Evans and drummer Dani Washington. The band won the Kerrang! Award for Best British Newcomer 2014.
  • This is the lead single from Neck Deep's debut album, Wishful Thinking. Ben Barlow explained the song's meaning to Kerrang!: "The inspiration, basically, was that I had a girlfriend and she cheated on me," he said, "which was a stupid thing to do when she knows I'm in a pop-punk band and likes to write about stuff like that (laughs)."

"I was gutted, obviously," Barlow added, "and some of the lyrics in there like 'The mess you made of me' about how you feel like absolute s--t, like the whole world is taking a f--king the massive dump on you."
