Songfacts®:

  • This song is about Neil Young's close relationship with his guitar. Young has an old guitar which was once used by Hank Williams, who was a big influence on Neil. In Young's 2006 movie Heart Of Gold, in Nashville Tennessee he talks about how the guitar finally returns to the spot where Hank Williams once played it. Young's friend found the guitar some 30 years ago and Neil has had it since. >>

  • Greg from Harrington Park, NjThis song sounds like Harvest Moon being played backwards...LOL And that is not a slight on either of these songs. I love them both. This song is so beautiful. Neil Young has such soul and passion. This entire album start to finish is amazing. Prairie Wind is one of his best albums ever and surely his best since Silver and Gold in 2000. Ekristeth, Halath, US - Old Ways is a great album. The Misfits w Waylon and Willie is great and Once an Angel is brilliant... "you're as close to heaven as I'll ever be." My favorite on that album though is My Boy. My own son will be 4 this year and man that time has flied by. "Why you growing up so fast?" Long live Neil Young - any one who mocks him or doesn't appreciate his talent / style just doesn't know music in ny opinion.
  • Ekristheh from Halath, United StatesStefanie in Rock Hill - Listen to Neil's country music album "Old Ways" if you haven't. It's very relaxing.
  • Kevin from BlenheimI heared that this soung was written about a guitar of Willie Nelson's that Neil young always liked and ended up buying from him. not 100% though. Fav line has to be "When i get drunk, and seein' double, it jumps behind the wheel and steers" haha. for and guitar players out there, the main part is D, Dsus and D with pinky on the first string on the 4th fret.(i forget what thats called) and the only other part is a G then goes back to Dsus then D. Repeat. Enjoy.
  • Randy from St. John's, CanadaThese are lyrics from "Jambalaya". A favoutie song of my wife.
  • Ron from Bentonville, ArIf you haven't seen Heart of Gold, why not??? It's absolutely stunning.
  • Stefanie from Rock Hill, ScI'm glad I got too find out the story. Some of Neil Young's songs havve a country music feel. There's one in particular that sounds like a Hank Williams song. The Neil Young song is "Comes a Time" and the Hank Williams song that sounds similar to it is the one that starts "Good-bye Joe. Me gotta go, meo myo..." The name of the song escapes me at the moment.
  • Stefanie from Rock Hill, ScI think Emmylou Harris sings back-up on this. She does, doesn't she?
  • Randal from Des Moines, IaClassic Neil Young song in one of the best CDs of last year. Prairie Wind is a instant classic!
