Songfacts®:

  • This introspective ballad is the second single from American rapper Nelly's fourth album Suit. Nelly, Jayson "KoKo" Bridges and James D. Hargrove wrote the song.
  • Country music star Tim McGraw contributed an overdubbed hook to this tune. Nelly told XXL magazine why he teamed up with a country artist for this song. He explained: "At that time I had just come from you know '#1' and all that and I like to think that I learn lessons fast. So if I had already been passed… you know, niggas is gonna say what they gonna say anyway so at this point I might as well do what I'm gonna do because the more I succeed and prove to them that this s--t is hot, the more I'm allowed to do whatever the f--k I wanna do you know what I'm sayin', and that's how I felt about it and I was just like s--t, I'ma try it, what the hell."
  • The song reached #1 in several countries including the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia.

  • Phil from Neenah, WiI think it's a pretty good song, even though I'm mostly into rock and metal. I love how well two different genres of music like hip hop and country can mesh really well like this and form a great song. The plot/story of the song is obviously about either one, or even both guys talking/singing about their relationships, wives, girlfriends, or even female friends they had left behind while on tour, or had some kind of disagreement and went their separate ways while looking back on the past as well as past mistakes and realizing on how much they miss that special girl, or that relationship they had with that certain female and want it back along with spending more time with them. It's also nice to see that it shows a little bit of jealousy and regret, like I had said before. I could dig it.
