Songfacts®:

  • This song was originally released by Dutch house producer Oliver Heldens as "Gecko" on DJ Tiesto's Musical Freedom record label in December 2013 after it caught the attention of the superstar DJ. The track peaked at #32 on the Dutch singles chart.
  • Heldens re-released the song with vocals from The Voice 2012 semi-finalist Becky Hill on June 23, 2014. It immediately landed at the top of the UK singles chart.

Hill was the singer on Wilkinson's 2013 hit tune "Afterglow," as well as the Rudimental track "Powerless."
  • The song was the last #1 in the UK to be based on sales alone, as streaming became incorporated into the chart the following week.
  • Becky Hill was the first The Voice UK contestant to achieve a #1 single.
  • Heldens originally conceived the song's iconic bass lead three years prior to its release, but sat on the track. Even after it caught the attention of Tiesto, he doubted that it would attract much interest. "I still didn't expect that so many EDM DJs who play really hard stuff would play that, but I was really happy they all caught onto it," he told Billboard magazine. "Tiesto was the first to bring my tracks to other DJs Although DJs could also see each other as competition, they're actually really nice to each other."
