Songfacts®:

  • This was the second song written for the album. Guitarist Ryan Ross, bassist Jon Walker and frontman Brendon Urie wrote it in Ross' backyard one night. Walker recalled to VH1: "We were happy about writing 'Nine In The Afternoon' so we decided to celebrate. We were out in Ryan's backyard. It was 80 degrees and our shirts were off. We were hanging out and playing guitar. We played that guitar chord for about three minutes, and we started looking around and it was kind of like a little story. The way we wrote it is a little bit like a nursery rhyme."
  • According to Ross it is "a song about the weather pretty much."

  • Candace from Los AngelesSkyler it makes reference to Alice in Wonderland. The whole album does. He didn't make it up to whine about the weather he used that lyric as a jumping off point for the whole song. Not to say it's the best piece of art ever but it has more meaning than just complaining about the weather.
  • Skyler from Saskatchewan, CanadaI was expecting the song's meaning to be about something deep and philosophical, I was wrong and I'm not on the brink of crying because it's about the weather X'D
  • Michael from Tucson, AzThis song is horrible. The lyrics are completely overused everyday by secondhand artists. "just like they do" is a filling lyric. Rhyming simply because you can is unacceptable, as well. The lyrics in this entire album are second rate. I'm completely disappointed by P!ATD.
  • Paige from West Lafayette, Ini love this song:
i kno its mad but if i go to hell,
would go go too or just leave

i love PATD's lyrics!!!! they are so deep!
