  • Written by lead singer Eddie Vedder, this was the second single released from Pearl Jam's fifth studio album. It got up to #6 on both the Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock Billboard charts, as well as its many other chart listings.
  • In a 1998 interview, Vedder identified the nature of the song: "It was a stream-of-consciousness exercise. McCready booked studio time in a tiny studio here with our friend Stu behind the board and another friend playing drums. We don't have the discipline to sit down and teach each other parts, so you're writing simple chord changes that someone else can follow without having to take breaks to learn them. It was probably eight minutes long originally. I listened to the tape and picked out the better wishes."
  • The line "I wish I was the full moon shining off your Camaro's hood" is a reference to the ride belonging to Vedder's then-wife Beth Liebling. Liebling and Vedder divorced in 2000, after a 16-year relationship that included a 6-year marriage up to that point. Vedder talked about the relationship in the Los Angeles Times, saying "Relationships can be tough. There are times I end up putting a lot of time into this music thing. I don't sleep at night."
Beth Liebling also co-founded Hovercraft, an experimental instrumental group formed in Seattle in 1993. She plays bass. More recently she has played drums for Lola, a Los-Angeles-based group.
  • When Yield came out, Entertainment Weekly called it Pearl Jam's "most cohesive album since their 1991 debut, Ten," and went on to say that it was "an intermittently affecting album that veers between fiery garage rock and rootsy, acoustic-based ruminations."

  • Gail from Chicago Heights IlWhat a sensitive soul Eddie Vedder is. He triggers memories of passion and special moments like few people are able to do. My ex had a black 68 Camaro. I'll never forget a toad trip to Texas. The moon on the hood at Padre Island . Thank you Eddie .
  • Meta from Santa Paula, CaForgot to say this is my fave PJ song EVER...HARD decision, so many crazy good tunes.
