Songfacts®:

  • Tyler, the Creator and 21 Savage rap a verse each on this thunderous track. Both artists fill their bars with flexes about their wealth. 21's verse also has a sexual sub theme while Tyler talks about his fashion sense. "I knew the track was aggressive, and it doesn't let up," Pharrell Williams told Zane Lowe. "So it's like those are the two. It's like letting two pit bulls loose. Ravenous. Two ravenous wolves. Tyler went crazy."
  • Tyler recorded his verse before the release of his Call Me If You Get Lost album on June 25, 2021.
  • Though Pharrell is the main artist, he doesn't contribute any vocals. Rather, he's the sole producer.
  • Pharrell released "Cash In Cash Out" on June 10, 2022 ahead of his Something in the Water Festival in Washington DC from June 17 to June 19.
  • Pharrell and Tyler have worked together on five previous occasions, dating back to the 2010 remix of N.E.R.D's ''Inside of Clouds.'' Their other collaborations were the Tyler tracks "IFHY" from 2013's Wolf, "Keep Da O's" from 2016's Cherry Bomb, and "Juggernaut" from 2021's Call Me If You Get Lost. The pair also combined on "Come On, Let's Go" from the compilation album I Know Nigo, curated by the Japanese fashion designer, producer, and hip-hop musician Nigo.

"Cash In Cash Out" is the first time Pharrell has teamed up with 21 Savage.
  • The brainchild of London-based visual effects company Electric Theatre Collective and director François Rousselet, the music video uses a 19th-century zeotrope-inspired CG animation style. It won Video of the Year at the 2022 UK Music Video Awards.
