  • Formed in Montclair, New Jersey in 2010, Pinegrove is an American rock band characterized by an ever-evolving lineup. At its heart stands frontman singer-songwriter Evan Stephens Hall and drummer Zack Levine. The two met in childhood when their fathers played in a cover band together.
  • Pinegrove's initial years revolved around independent music releases, notably their debut album Meridian in 2012, as well as intimate DIY house performances. The turning point arrived in 2016 with their second studio album, Cardinal, which landed on many music critics' Top 10 year-end lists.
  • Hall attended Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Pinegrove takes its name from a nature reserve nestling within the nearby Kokosing River valley. Among its features are a cluster of pine trees that students affectionately dub the "pinegrove."
  • In April 2023, Pinegrove announced a hiatus following Zach Levine's departure. A few weeks later, a creative individual on TikTok using the handle @garrettlee39 posted a video of himself dancing to the band's 2014 single "Need 2." The song and dance spread like wildfire across the TikTok platform introducing Pinegrove's music to a new generation.
