Songfacts®:

  • Tim Armstrong of Rancid wrote the lyric about his breakup with Brody Dalle of The Distillers. They got married in 1997 and went through their divorce around the same time Rancid was making the Indestructible album. On "Tropical London," Armstrong is saying that if she doesn't want to be with him, he never should have done anything for her, and that she's missing out on his attention."

Another track on the album, "Fall Back Down," is also about Dalle.
  • This was the third single released from Indestructible. By this time, Rancid's days of crossing over to pop like they did in the mid-'90s with songs like "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho" had long since passed, but they maintained a solid fanbase and remained a popular live act.
