  • Lyrics
  • This song is about Brivs Mekis, a man who built a wall in his house. He would live on one side for a while, then switch to the other when he got bored. When he died, they found a huge pile of books in his closet that he wrote and had published. The book was titled Life And How To Live It. >>

  • Peter Buck on why they chose Mekis for a song subject: "One of the things Michael was writing about in Fables was the small-town character thing, so that was a reflection on who this guy was. It fit the storytelling mode of Fables." (Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage 1982-2011)
