Songfacts®:

  • Riley Green pays tribute to Brooks & Dunn's classic hit "Red Dirt Road" on "Pave All Them Red Dirt Roads," a nostalgic anthem that sees his memories being bulldozed along with the landmarks in his rural community. Green, who wrote the song with Dallas Davidson, avoided copying the 2003 hit's melody or lyrics.

"I didn't want to take anything from that song," he told the Off The Record podcast. "I just wanted it to be something that I could send them and go, 'This is something I'm proud of. I hope y'all enjoy it.'"

Green wrote the bridge, which namechecks Brooks & Dunn, hoping they'd sing a bit of "Red Dirt Road" on the final chorus. When Ronnie Dunn heard the demo, he signed on right away and got Kix Brooks to join.
  • Green already had some history with Brooks & Dunn. In 2024, he sang Ronnie Dunn's part on the Reboot II track "She Used To Be Mine" directly in front of Dunn. While the experience was nerve-wracking, it helped him establish a relationship with the country legend that made another collaboration plausible.
