Like A Drum
by RZA

Album: released as a single (2026)

Songfacts®:

  • RZA is banging on your head like a drum in this hyperaggressive track written for the Amazon Prime Video movie The Wrecking Crew, which is most certainly not to be confused with the 2008 documentary of the same name about the studio musicians behind many hit songs from the '60s and '70s. The 2026 film stars Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista as half-brothers who get into lots of violent altercations, sometimes with each other, but often with the Yakuza.
  • RZA wrote the song with his son Rakeem. "Working alongside my son, we focused on creating a song that reflects the film's energy and soul, while allowing the music to stand on its own as a character in the story," he explained.
  • The song was released exclusively on Amazon Music as part of their Amazon Originals series. Other Amazon Originals from around this time include "Let 'Em Know" by Shaboozey and a Portugal. The Man cover of the K-pop hit "Golden."
  • RZA gets in a shout-out to his group Wu-Tang Clan in the line "Wu-Tang is for the children." That phrase became a part of Wu-Tang lore when group member Ol' Dirty Bastard said it when storming the stage at the 1998 Grammy Awards after Wu-Tang Forever lost Best Rap Album to Puff Daddy.
  • This wasn't RZA's first rodeo with film music; he was the music supervisor on Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill movies. He's also done a lot of acting, with movie roles in American Gangster (2007), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013) and The Dead Don't Die (2019).
