  • Scotty Emerick likes to write with subtle double-entendres. The purpose of this song was to "try and have a double meaning in that, like the coast is clear weather-wise, while you're sitting out there, but also that he's in this beautiful place, and he's just gonna sit there and wait for the love of his life to come along. I wanted to try to make it kind of different, where it's like here's this guy sitting in this beautiful perfect place, and he's gonna wait for the love of his life to come along, and wherever you are, the coast is clear, come on. It's so beautiful for him by himself he doesn't want to leave. That's what we were trying to do there."

Scotty says he's not one to sit on a beach like that and pine away out of loneliness, but he appreciates that a lot of people do have those dreams. He says, "Good thing about songs is that you can make them unrealistic and people still love them," because the world will never lack for dreamers. (Check out our interview with Scotty Emerick.)
