Songfacts®:

  • In an interview with "Matto" of Boganmania to promote their Do Ya album, Dave Gleeson and Izzy Osmanovich were asked what were their favourite Screaming Jets songs. Lead vocalist Gleeson replied "Helping Hand" because at the time it was "just totally one out of the box"; it didn't sound like a Screaming Jets song, apparently because it included a trumpet.

"Helping Hand" is certainly an untypical Screaming Jets song; written by bass player Paul Woseen, it has almost a reggae feel to it, but perhaps surprisingly it has been one of their most popular in concert. >>>
