Vocalist Brian Fair explained: "These days, the world seems to be spiraling out of control into a frantic state of confusion, corruption and chaos. It's as if we are living under the shadow of an impending apocalypse. The songs on this album were inspired by this chaos and the struggle to find answers in these dark days."
• This song tells the story of a star going supernova and devouring planets. For those of you who skipped your astronomy classes, a supernova is the explosive death of an aging star. It undergoes a gravitational collapse, and releases a burst of radiation that often briefly outshines an entire galaxy.
