Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track of the seventh studio album by American Heavy Metal band Shadows Fall. Though not a concept record, a doomsday theme does link the songs on Fire From The Sky together. Vocalist Brian Fair explained: "These days, the world seems to be spiraling out of control into a frantic state of confusion, corruption and chaos. It's as if we are living under the shadow of an impending apocalypse. The songs on this album were inspired by this chaos and the struggle to find answers in these dark days."
  • This song tells the story of a star going supernova and devouring planets. For those of you who skipped your astronomy classes, a supernova is the explosive death of an aging star. It undergoes a gravitational collapse, and releases a burst of radiation that often briefly outshines an entire galaxy.
