Album: Firedance (1982)

Songfacts®:

  • Shiva is a Hindu deity, it is also the final track on the 1982 Firedance album by a band of the same name, a band that didn't quite make it. In Suzie Smiled... The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, drummer Chris Logan told author John Tucker: "What a strange track that was. I think 'Shiva' was basically something for us, the band, rather than for other people. There was a lot of technical things in it, weird time-changes, and the drum solo was bizarre! I mean, I had an old cymbal and I just hit it, I think with a rubber mallet or something, then we recorded it backwards. When I hear it now, I wonder if it's some kind of drug-crazed madness."

"Shiva" runs to around 4 minutes 25 seconds. >>>
