Songfacts®:

  • In this song Sigala hooks up with British singer and influencer Talia Mar. The male voice we hear is actually Mar's, just pitched down. Sigala's only vocal contribution is the i-i-i-i part on the pre-chorus.
  • Talia Mar sings of a reconnection with a love interest she met in Ibiza. She invites him to stay the night so they "can bring the music back to life."
  • Natalia Haddock, known professionally as Talia Mar, is a singer, songwriter, and internet personality. She is of half-Italian and half-English descent. Mar also sang on and co-wrote "Real Name," a track from KSI's 2019 collaborative album with Randolph.
  • Sigala wrote this high-energy house track with its co-producer Jarly, White N3rd, Ida Martinsen Botten, George Astasio, Jason Pebworth and Jon Shave.

Manchester producer/DJ Scott Wild, aka White N3rd, co-wrote Sigala's 2017 single with Ella Eyre, "Came Here For Love." He also handled the beat for "When The Bassline Drops," the 2016 single that fueled the comeback of Craig David.

Norwegian singer-songwriter Ida Martinsen Botten co-wrote and sang on Sigala's previous single, "Melody." Botten also worked with Sigala on his Becky Hill collaboration, "Heaven On My Mind."

Jason Pebworth, George Astasio and Jon Shave comprise the London-based songwriting and production The Invisible Men. They previously co-wrote Sigala's 2018 collaboration with French Montana and Ella Eyre, "Just Got Paid."
  • 1990s music inspired Sigala's bubbly and emotional production. "I grew up in the '90s. I'm a '90s baby, so I was around all that stuff when I was very young," he told Retro Pop. "The whole rave culture and trance and stuff like that. My knowledge of it isn't really that good, but it's in there somewhere... Those sounds and those feelings and that era of music definitely inspires me."
  • The song peaked at #11 in the UK after becoming the unofficial anthem of the 2022 series of Love Island.
  • "Stay the Night" almost ended up as a Little Mix song, but it overlapped with their hit collaboration with Galantis and David Getta. "Before Talia did it, it was potentially gonna be Little Mix," Sigala told The Daily Star. "But I think it was around the time when they had 'Heartbreak Anthem,' which was going crazy, and the timing didn't really work out."
