Songfacts®:

  • Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor is drawn to rather macabre films. "Prosthetics," a track from the band's 1999 self-titled breakthrough album, was inspired by the 1965 movie The Collector, about a butterfly collector who decides to collect humans as well. It was directed by William Wyler, a movie legend whose credits include Wuthering Heights and Ben-Hur.

  • Blubeast from Sac, CaTo be precise, the movie is about a man who only collects one woman. The movie is based off a book The Collector by John Fowles.
  • Devon from Spokane, WaThis song is about a man who collects humans and recreates them, almost the same meaning as Iowa. Theres also a rumor going around saying that this song is a about a Man in Iowa, who kidnapped a 8 year old girl and killed and raped her (not in that order),but then after getting arrested,he said "dammit man i knew it was a mistake!!!"
