Songfacts®:

  • This is a single by rappers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, from their comedy Mac and Devin Go to High School. The song features Pop singer Bruno Mars crooning the hook.
  • The collaboration started when the stoner pair got together for a "Black and Yellow" remix. Said Snoop: "We decided to go ahead and say, 'Let's just do a movie and a soundtrack and just become bosom buddies and do what we do.' We love what we do and we love each other."
  • Snoop told MTV News how the song came together: "[Bruno Mars] sent me the music and I played the music for Wiz and he loved it and we came together," he said. "That's what we do: We make good music. If you've got a great idea, which was started by Bruno, and me and Wiz, we take it to the next level, gave it back to Bruno. He tightened up the edges, and now it's a complete situation."
  • The song samples "Sneakin' in the Back," a 1973 track from Tom Scott's Jazz/Fusion album Tom Scott and The L.A. Express. This beat has been sampled on several other occasions, including in the title track from Massive Attack's debut album Blue Lines, released in 1991 and the Hip Hop Mix of Madonna's 1990 chart-topper, "Justify My Love."
  • Dylan Brown directed the music video, which features footage from Mac and Devin Go to High School and party scenes shot at a drive-in. The shoot was supposed to wrap-up by nightfall, but a swap-meet held up production, along with Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa wanting to stay in their trailers all day. Without the sun to warm them, the bikini-clad girls were shocked by the freezing water during the Slip 'N Slide scenes. Bruno Mars also makes a cameo appearance.
