Part Of Me

Album: Mix (1999)

Songfacts®:

  • Not to be confused with the later Katy Perry song of the same name, "Part Of Me" was written by Boh Runga, and was the New Zealand band's third single. Running to exactly four minutes, it was released April 26, 1999, and has a simple but beautiful melody. The video sees the eldest of the talented Runga sisters with bright orange hair walking through what has been called a repressive, futuristic world of glass, concrete and steel. It was directed by Jonathan King (not to be confused with the infamous Jonathan King).

"Part Of Me" reached #4 in the domestic chart, but like so much great music and the band itself, remains virtually unknown to the much larger North American and European public. >>
