Songfacts®:

  • "Lose My Breath" sees Stray Kids teaming up with American singer songwriter Charlie Puth. It was released as their first official English-language single through JYP Entertainment and Republic Records on May 10, 2024.
  • "Lose My Breath" is a bit of a departure for the Kids. Its breezy pop vibes with a healthy dose of R&B is a change from the pounding beats and raps of singles like "Case 143" and "Lalalala."
  • The song describes a feeling of complete captivation. The Kids lose their breath and feel like their world is turned upside down whenever they lock eyes on the object of their affection.
  • Stray Kids' in-house production team 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN) wrote and composed "Lose My Breath" with Charlie Puth in September 2023. 3RACHA were over for a music festival but also managed to squeeze in some studio time for a songwriting session.

"We started the song off from scratch," Bang Chan told NME of "Lose My Breath," recalling how it began life as just a blueprint at the song camp. "It was the track first, and then [3RACHA] did our part of the arrangement, how the song was going to go, and then decided what we wanted to talk about [in the song]."

Bang Chan humbly claims he just "helped out a bit" while the other guys wrestled with English lyrics. Once they had a decent foundation, they took the track back to Seoul to polish it off. It was a true international effort, with files bouncing back and forth between the US and South Korea like a hyperactive ping pong ball.
  • Puth's go-to writing partner Jacob Kasher Hindlin and Nailya (Tate McRae's "Rubber Band") also helped with the lyrics. Puth co-produced the track with Israeli producer and songwriter Yonatan "Johnny" Goldstein (Coi Leray's "Players," Lay Bankz's "Tell Ur Girlfriend"). The two producers also played all the instruments.
  • The adventure-filled music video depicts the eight-piece group traveling individually for a rendezvous as fireworks explode in the sky. The choreography scenes include dancing in several inches of water and in the pouring rain, which completely drenched them. "You just got to put in more strength to move around," Kids member Felix laughed. "Because we did it at night, it was really cold. We had hot packs everywhere."
