This song was written by British singer-songwriters Paul Carrack and Nick Lowe and originally featured on Lowe's 1994 album The Impossible Bird. Carrack subsequently covered it as well as Nanci Griffith and Diana Ross.
Hicks explained to the Birmingham News: "I see this as the traditional blues song on the record. It's got great lyrics and a great story. I thought that I would love to be able to tell that story in my own way."
