Songfacts®:

  • Here, The Cribs singers Gary and Ryan Jarman try to help their former girlfriend come to terms with the end of their relationship. The romance was doomed to failure in part because of their jealousy and anxiety. They hope she finds comfort knowing they still share the same sky.
  • The Cribs recorded "We Share The Same Skies" for Ignore the Ignorant and released it as its second single. The West Yorkshire band recorded the album in Los Angeles with producer Nick Launay (Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Arcade Fire, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds).
  • The Smiths and Modest Mouse guitarist Johnny Marr joined the Cribs in 2008 after meeting Gary Jarman when they were both in Portland, Oregon. Marr came up with this song's guitar line one night in Portland. He leapt out of bed the next morning and zoomed round to Jarman's place so they could jam it out in his basement. "Sometimes you know a riff is going to carry a whole song," he told Uncut magazine.
