The first new song from Dead Weather since 2010's Sea of Cowards, this was first released as a limited edition 7" vinyl record through Jack White's label Third Man Records' Vault subscription service in October 2013. It was made available as a digital download on January 14, 2014.
"Open Up" was later included on Dodge & Burn, one of four tracks that have already been released on 7" vinyl through Third Man Records's Vault Club, along with "Buzzkill(er)," "It's Just Too Bad" and "Rough Detective."
