  • Guitarist Mark Sheehan told The Sun newspaper August 1, 2008 about this song: "I had an idea of a guy who'd broke up with his girl and lost total contact with her. What would he do? I thought he would just go back to the corner where they first met and wait and wait till she returned. The rest just flowed as a story and we made a song from it."
  • Sheehan told the story behind the song in an interview with AOL Music: "You know that moment in your life when you just want to say, 'Look at me now and f--- you' ? You just want to look back on an ex and say 'Look what you don't have!' I think everybody does that and we wanted to do that, but instead of blatantly going out and giving her all the credit and have her run away and say 'He's talking about me!' we wrote 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved.' And that was literally hoping that she would be in her car driving to work one day, p---ed over the fact that this song is playing and knowing it's about her but never really about her. And that's where the lyrics come from, 'Maybe I'll get famous as the man that can't be moved/ And maybe you won't mean to but you'll see me on the news.' We couldn't fit 'p---ed off' in the rhyme."
  • The song returned to the UK singles chart in April 2012 following their vocalist Danny O'Donoghue's appearances as one of the judges and coaches on BBC 1 talent show The Voice. It surged to #18 in after a contestant performed the track for their audition.

  • Captain Dunsel from St Louis UsaI love this song, but I don't get one line of the lyrics. The words read "Got some words on cardboard" but clearly he isn't saying "words" but a two-syllable word instead...?
  • Susan from Tagum City, PhilippinesI love the song, and I really love The Script.
  • Megan from Stevenson, AlOMG! When I first heard this I thought to myself these guys are going to be HUGE!!! DUDE! I was right!!! I LOVE THE SCRIPT!!!!!
  • Emily from Around Chicago, IlMy favorite lines in the song are "Cuz if one day you make up and find that you're missing me; And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I can be" just because it's so full of hope and truth. I like especially that they said your HEART starts to wonder, instead of YOU start to wonder...so true. You don't think about the one you're missing...you feel them.
  • Shana from Casablanca, MoroccoThe message is pretty clear I think, no subtext or anything..
However, the first time that I listened to this song, I ddn't like it and just skipped it, but two days later, I listened to it, and I adored it for some reason, (Excellent melody, okay lyrics, beautiful story)
    It got me dreaming...
