  • Forget old flames and faded memories! Backed by rootsy R&B, The War and Treaty celebrate the power of starting fresh in love. This soulful piano ballad paints a picture of two people ready to ditch emotional baggage and write their own unforgettable story together.

"When you meet someone for the first time, you have an opportunity to create something together from a blank page,"The War and Treaty's Michael Trotter told Billboard. "How many times do you hear, 'I went through this breakup and this heartbreak before I finally got to The One?' We were like, 'That can't be our foundation. You're a blank page.'"
  • The War and Treaty signed a major label deal with Universal Music Group Nashville in May 2022. This is the title track of their first project for the label, Blank Page, a four-song EP. They released it straight after a performance of "It's Only Rock 'N' Roll But I Like It)" alongside Brothers Osborne at the CMA Awards as a precursor to their 2023 Lover's Game album.
  • "Blank Page" was the catalyst for The War and Treaty's new batch of music. "The song 'Blank Page' came at a pivotal moment for Tanya and I, because much like everyone else trying to find their footing after the pandemic, we felt as if we were starting over, and that can leave anyone feeling [crippled] or euphoric," said Michael Trotter.
  • "Blank Page" is also included on Lover's Game, which UMG released on March 22, 2023. The producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile) worked with The War and Treaty on the album, encouraging them to have confidence in their strengths. "He said, man, no one has vocals like y'all in the industry," Michael Trotter recalled to Music Mayhem. "It's vocals, vocals, vocals."

This unwavering confidence pushed the duo to unleash their soulful voices, with Cobb even accepting the first take on occasions, much to their initial disbelief.

"He's like, trust me, what you have is enough. So I feel like that is another part of his genius," said Trotter. "Once he finds that thing about that artist, he's like, this is what we're going to trust. This is where you want to lead the ship, but you want to lead it from here. And that's what he did with The War and Treaty."
