Someone You Don't Know from California When the song says "i hate everything about you why do I love you" reminds me when I fight with my mom then she hit's me but when she's happy. She try's to make it all better like nothing happened and I end up forgiving her even though I still kind of hate her but she's my mom you know.
AnonymousThis song is actually about substance abuse
B.ella from Nycso nobody thinks it could’ve been about both? artists can often write songs with multiple things in mind (: but i definitely its more about a relationship, especially because towards the end he starts to talk about how they hate him too.
Mayci from CaliforniaI heard different thoughts about this song and I thought one for myself, when it says “I hate everything about you, why do I love you” I thought it was about an addiction to drugs, as it would make sense in the lyrics, but it could also be about a relationship, but the more I listen the more it sounds like an abusive relationship, after every hit we take, every silent scream we make, sounds like things that would take place in an abusive relationship.
Lil Savage from United States this reminds me of my dad and my mom relationship since my dad was bipolar he told me when i was 14 day before i turned 15 “i hate your mom so much” and 5 minutes later told me “i love your mom so much” it’s always stuck with me every time i hear this song but it also reminds me of my ex because i hate him how he treated me but i loved the attention he gave me but it also reminds me of my drug addiction since i loved being on the pills but i also hated them
FredIf you watch the music video it give one feeling that I think for me is my interpretation. When I hear this song I think of my abusive alcohol/drug addict father. I hated him for hitting me, not remembering my birthday, and abandoning me but I couldn't help loving him everytime he called or showered any good attention on me.
Babs from The One And Only Pittsburgh With An H"...every silent scream we make..." evokes, to me, the image of someone exhaling smoke (which looks like screaming but obviously makes little to no noise). I have always been pretty sure this song is about sucking on lightbulbs, ergo, 'basing meth.
Wonderful from LondonI don't think it makes sense that it's about an ex girlfriend or their parents. The band isn't made up of whiny 12-year-olds. By the lyrical content, it makes it sound like it's about a drug. Drugs are a common topic in music, often hidden in metaphor (The Perfect Kiss, by New Order and Kissed by a Rose by Seal are two good examples).
"After every hit we take Every feeling that I get But I haven't missed you yet"
Milla Marie from NorwayI think this song is about Adam Gontier’s drug addiction.
Braking Jessica from Hoffman EstatesI think this whole album and this song especially, and the song “Just Like You” is mean for saying that they are gonna be different than what their parents want them to be, like if a parent wants their kids to be like them, but it hurts and they feel pressured, so they Burt’s in anger. Idk if that makes sense but that’s honestly what I think. But the thing that makes me feel wrong about that comment is when in “I hate everything about you”, he says “every sigh and scream we make” which I think is referring to sex, (sorry), so idk. But Yh
Ben from Fredericksburg VaGirlfriend cheated on me and I hated her for it but for some reason I’m still with her
Brittany from Reno, NvJust the fact that every has a good point to what this song could be about shows they did their job as an artist. When I listen to it I think how s--t my mom was. Every hit could easily mean drugs or an actual hit or maybe it means getting knocked down in life. If you have every listened to a song that is very literal and blatant on the meaning it’s difficult to enjoy it if you can’t relate. So many people can relate to this song because it’s meaning can be interpreted. Art is an interpretation. Every successful painting for example can have millions of meaning depending on who you are. So you’re all right!
Koda from United StatesThis could be about both. The lead singer probably wrote a lot of his songs with his drug rehabilitation in mind. He hates everything about drugs and what they do to him, but he can't help but want to do them. Also, it probably encompasses his girlfriend or ex to. It could be about both at the same time. He was mad and just jammed stuff that he has mixed feelings about into a song. I have to side with the idea the "hit" relates to drugs, especially since it is censored.
Depressed from Indianapolis, InThis Song Is Dedicated To You ..
Jessica from Bath, NyI f--king love this song. It's badass ;D
Ashley from Rossville, GaThere is a guy that i really like and every time he is mad at me or he has a girlfriend I hate him, then I listen to this song and it makes me feel better.
Brett from Westford, MaThis song is definatly about drug addiction. He refers to the drugs as her. He hates everything about them but uses them still
Ernie from Unionville, MiI really like this song because its true, there is a fine line between "Love and Hate" and they do a pretty good job saying it as it is...
Rui from Porto, PortugalWell, that's just stupid, you can't love and hate someone at the same time. You can just hate someone and however feel passion for that person or his/her body, or whatever. I like the sound though.
Jd from Paoli, Inthis is an alright song by three days grace but i think that last to know is there best so far
Nathan Ritz from Paoli, InCloro its not about his past drug addiction its about loving someone and hating them at the same time
Cloro from Detroit, Miactually, this song is about his past drug addiction.
Allyyyyy from Chicago, Ilwow. this hits a little too close to home for me.
Naomi from Ashland, OhThis song really hits home for me. There was this guy that I hated and loved at the same time. Well not it's more of a strong dislike and no more love for him! Hope he is happy with his new life!
Aaron from Chesaning, MiThus song is amazing no doubt about it this should be the song that everyone should be talking about now with so much of this gong on in the world.
Chelsea from Centreville, VaI read about the song and it says its a cmobonation of all the realtionships the guys in the band had and they made a song about how you feel after a break up
Jade from Cancun, Mexicoumm..yeah.. i dont think this song is about drugs...at all. every hit we take means evry obstacle they came across....just my opinion
Alice from Danville, CaIt doesn't really seem like it could be about drugs, but considering the word "hit" gets censored... wtf censorship laws are messed up. But I feel that this song is difficult to be connected to drug usage. Why can't a good rock song be about love sometime?!
Colleen from Vacaville, CaI'm afraid I have to disagree about "every hit we take" analysis.
Yes, it works for drugs, BUT it can also be used in reference for fighting. Hit is ambiguous. It's most obviously a hate to love, love to hate, relationship, but there are many side interpretations, which is why a song can apply to everyone and anyone.
In a song, you look for what you want it to mean to you.
Stripes from Twilight, Txto answer a question a ways up top "every room mate kept awake by every sigh and scream we make" is most likely not about drugs or fighting. it's about sex. "Every hit we take" is about drugs.
Caz from Minnesota, Mni have to say 3 days grace sux
Beverly from El Paso, Txi love this song i could listen to it over and over again
Brandi from Ewing, VaI love this song it is the perfect song for me and my ex
Roberto from Guayaquil, EcuadorYes, the song talks about love and hate towards someone/something, but the video states that the singers feels love/hate for his father; not drugs or a girl.
Andrewvenom92390 from Elyria, Ohthe roommate kept awake part fits in because its an example of what could be going on. If the person they hate is a family member or someone they live with then the fights and screaming could keep neighbors awake.
Austin from Smallsville, NeIt is a pretty straight foward song. I think it can either be about an addiction or a love hate relationship with a girl
Jose from Miami, Flexactly. mixed emotions. Drugs would be the last thing on one's mind while listening to this song. so...
Briana from Greensboro , NcHaving mixed emotions about someone
Kevin from Albany, OrBoy, that was sure a clarifying SongFact.
Kyle from Egmondville, CanadaI'm not trying to prove anyone wrong, but how does the line "Every roommate kept awake by every sigh and scream we make" relate to drugs?
Emily from Frankiln, Tnit's about EVERYTHING around him that causes him to lose control. it's asome song
Andrewvenom92390 from Elyria, Ohthis song is just in general. it could be about an addiction to drugs, alcohol, or even to a person. the lyrics expalain the rest
Wes from South Bend, Inmike how could u posibly think this is about drugs idk why but every song on here some dumb relates to drugs r u all a bunch of junkies?
Michelle from Brook Park, MnThis song is a good song. From my perspective, it's about hating someone, but loving them at the same time. I can relate to that cuz I love someone, but I hate him for the things he does and doesn't talk to me anymore.
Christine from Salem, CtI don't think the song is about drugs. It's obviously about a woman that he loves. I can connect. I hate this kid for everything he does and how he does it, but at the same time there's a part of me that can't help but love him.
Ron from Mount Holly, NjIt does seem like it cold be about drugs but the fact that he talks about keeping roommates awake and "her" loving him back makes it seem like it's a woman
Mike from Fairfield, CaAre we sure this song isn't about drugs? it kinda seems like it?
Winter from Niceville, FlIf you're looking for a song that you can jump around to and get all ur pissy feelings out.. this is the song!! i love it.. :]
Courtney from Pahrump, NvI agree with Ryan Tool is an amazing band but anyways i think its cool because if you listen to the words to almost every 3dg song adam always switches it around " I hate everything about you why do I love you? You hate everything about me why do you love me? and in drown hes asking for someones trust then he says I will let you down it sounds dumb but I think its CRAZY!
Ryan from Mobile, AlThe song "H" by Tool is pretty much about the same thing. "I am too connected to you to slip away to fade away..."
Patrick from Stl, Mothese guys are a good band i like them alot. i got to see at pointfest.
