Songfacts®:

  • "Lullaby" is a 2025 charity single created to raise funds for humanitarian and medical support for Palestinians, particularly people in Gaza. It reimagines the traditional Palestinian folk lullaby "Yamma Mweel El Hawa", a Palestinian song of love and resilience, which translates to "Mama, Sing To The Wind."
  • Credited to Together For Palestine, the track is a contemporary choral pop piece with a large ensemble of UK and Palestinian artists:

    Amena
    Brian Eno
    Celeste
    Bastille's Dan Smith
    Shards' Kieran Brunt
    Lana Lubany
    Leigh-Anne
    The London Community Gospel Choir
    Mabel
    Nadine Shah
    Nai Barghouti
    Neneh Cherry
    Sura Abdo
    Tyson
    Yasmeen Ayyashi
    Ysee
  • "Lullaby" layers Arabic vocals and the folk melody from the Palestinian song "Yamma Mweel El Hawa" with modern orchestral swells and subtle electronic textures. The familiar refrain remains intact, while newly written English sections offer comfort and solidarity. The arrangement and recomposition were handled by Kieran Brunt and Nai Barghouti, with Peter Gabriel contributing the English lyrics.

Fans of Gabriel's long history of cross-cultural collaboration may hear clear echoes of his earlier work: the solemn, human-centered resolve of "Biko," the textural, borderless atmosphere of his Passion soundtrack, and the communal warmth of "In Your Eyes," where traditional voices and contemporary production meet.
  • Gazan painter Malak Mattar created the single's artwork, inspired by her piece Shelter.
  • All profits from "Lullaby" go to the Together For Palestine Fund, held by Choose Love, supporting Palestinian-led organizations including Taawon, the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, and the Palestine Medical Relief Society.
  • Released on December 12, 2025, "Lullaby" reached #1 on iTunes and climbed to #5 on the UK Singles Chart during the Christmas week.
  • The single is part of the wider Together For Palestine initiative, which also held a benefit concert at Wembley Arena on September 17, 2025, organized by Brian Eno. That show featured performances from Paul Weller, Damon Albarn, Cat Burns, Rachel Chinouriri, Dan Smith, and others. "Lullaby" was originally put together for the Wembley Arena show, but they couldn't perform it on the night.
