  • Tom Grennan wrote this emotive and triumphant song thinking about financial difficulties, the impact of COVID, and other challenges people were facing. He wanted to encourage listeners to seek support in their struggles.

"There's the battle of everything," he said. "But when it's shared with somebody else, you're doing it together, not just on your own. So that's what it's about; if I'm here for you, then please be here for me."
  • Grennan released "Here" as the fourth single from What Ifs & Maybes on January 27, 2023. The song echoes a similar sentiment to the message conveyed in his previous single, "You Are Not Alone," which he hoped would serve as a comforting "warm hug" to those in need.
  • Grennan co-wrote "Here" with Gerard O'Connell, James Essien, Jordan Riley and Lewis Thompson. Thompson and Riley also co-produced the track with Grennan's "Little Bit Of Love" and "Remind Me" producer, Peter "Lostboy" Rycroft.
  • A friend sent Tom Grennan the skeleton of the song. The singer listened to it and thought it was exactly what and where he is in life right now. When Grennan went into the studio, he re-wrote some of the lyrics so it made sense for him.

"It's a little hand on my own shoulder," he explained to Apple Music. "It's that 'what ifs and maybes' thing: You can dream, you can be who you want to be, and I'll back my own corner. I'll always be here for myself and I'll always dream, and I'll always figure things out on my own. I love other people [being] there to push me and direct me, but the only way I can get to somewhere in life is if I put my mind to it."
