Holy Smoke

Album: Only The Now (2015)
  • This autobiographical song sees Robinson looking back to his boyhood when he literally smoked a Bible:

I like to smoke the bible
    It makes a crazy toke
    Those wafer paper pages
    Go up in holy smoke

From the angry lyrical content one might suspect him of being a militant atheist, but in a September 2007 article he wrote for the Guardian he speaks fondly of Quakers and recalls that it was his father who was "a hater of religion."
  • "Holy Smoke" features guest appearances by rapper Swami Baracus and the actor Ian McKellen (as the voice of God). It was produced by Gerry Diver. >>
