Songfacts®:

  • "Blessings" is about a time when Tom Walker was sharing a house with a dozen other musicians. They were all broke, so one night they threw a huge party as they didn't have any money to go out. He wrote this song the next day after walking for an hour and a half to the session as he couldn't afford the bus. Walker recalled to Apple Music that when he finally got to the studio he was thinking, "At least we had the sickest night. We might be completely broke but at least we're having a good time.'"
  • The What a Time to Be Alive album title comes from a lyric on this song.
