Songfacts®:

  • Released in 2026, "Stillwater Night" is the title track to the 10th EP in Vince Gill's 50 Years From Home series, which launched in 2025 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of leaving his native Oklahoma to pursue a music career. The song finds the lonely singer homesick for the sights and sounds of his home state. Gill was born in Norman and raised in Oklahoma City, but liked the connotations of the name Stillwater, one of the state's largest cities. It also helped him connect with his co-writer, country singer Wyatt Flores.

Gill told Off The Record, "I had this title, and I thought, 'Oh, that's Stillwater, like the lake or like a body of water, and when the water is still, how peaceful it is. Sure could use a stillwater night and kind of paired with the town at the same time.' And I thought he'd like this because he's from Stillwater, and he did."
  • This features harmony vocals from the bluegrass Southern gospel group The Isaacs.
