Songfacts®:

  • Subtitled "Where The Soul Never Dies," this hymn - including original music - was composed by William M. Golden (1878-1934). Like Leadbelly, the White Southern served hard time. He is said to have written most of his hymns during an eight-year stretch in the state penitentiary.
