Songfacts®:

  • Willow Smith explores her spirituality on the 2026 devotional album The Thread, led by the atmospheric single "Talk On The Hill," which finds the singer longing to learn the mysterious language of the universe. She sings:

I'll sit so quietly so you can show me how
    Can you show me now?
Can you teach me to talk on the hill?
    .
  • Although Willow's Hindu faith influenced some of the spiritual themes on the album, "Talk On The Hill" was specifically inspired by the 2024 podcast The Telepathy Tapes, created by documentary director Ky Dickens and researcher Dr. Diane Hennacy Powell. The episodes investigated the possibility of telepathic communication between non-verbal autistic children.

Speaking about "Talk On The Hill," Willow thanked the creators "for their extraordinary bravery in studying and documenting the quiet teachers whose gifts stand at the threshold of mysteries our culture has barely begun to contemplate."
