Songfacts®:

  • "Don't Rush" is a sharp-edged banger full of cheeky one liners. After two playful verses from the Nottingham duo, Headie One closes the track with some slick bars. The North London drill MC boasts about his October 2019 sell-out gig at Glasgow's' SWG3 Warehouse.

Fast train to Inverurie, I used to go up
It's ironic, I just sold out my show in Scotland

Hailing from Tottenham's Broadwater Farm Estate, Headie One also spent time in Scotland when he used to travel up to Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.
  • The bouncy production comes courtesy of Grades. The British producer has also collaborated with Cheryl Cole ("Screw You") and Nao ("Bad Blood"). He has also officially remixed Lana Del Rey, Labrinth and Becky Hill.
  • Director KLDVR set the video in a night club. We see Young T and Bugsey show up in a place where there are plenty of girls, but not so many guys, until Headie makes an appearance.

London-born director KLDVR also shot Young T & Bugsey visual for "En Route." His other credits include Mahalia's "'Do Not Disturb" and Fredo featuring Dave's "All I Ever Wanted."
  • Originally, Hardy Caprio was earmarked to be the featured artist, but he wasn't available for the video. Young T & Bugsey decided to just record the track together, but when their A&R played Headie One the song, he wanted to jump on it. Bugsey recalled to Apple Music: "We know the respect is mutual, so we were like, 'Cool. Give Headie a chance, see what he can do with it.' Two weeks later, we're all just sat down with the verse, it was like: 'Yo. I can't even lie... Banger! Proper banger.'"
  • The song started getting interest outside the UK as a result of the #Don'tRushChallenge. The Tik Tok challenge, which involves people making suddenly stylish transformations as the track plays, went viral in April 2020.
  • Young T & Bugsey made history when with this song, they became the first UK rap duo ever to chart on the US Hot 100 (peaking at #56).
  • This won the public-voted Best Song prize at the 2020 MOBO Awards. Guest artist Headie One was also named Best Male Act at the ceremony.
