Songfacts®:

  • Zac Brown penned this song with regular collaborators Niko Moon and Wyatt Durrette plus blues singer Keb' Mo'. It is an unusual amalgamation of genres welding country-gospel to a Celtic reel, inserting an arena folk sing-along section, before concluding with contemporary worship.
  • Lyrically, the song is a statement of Zac Brown's Christian beliefs, where he proclaims that God's love is the remedy for life's ills. He explained to Tonedeaf.com: "'Remedy' is stating my spirituality and the way that I look at things. Through every journey that I've been through, through church, through my personal experiences, through what I've seen of the world, 'Remedy' is a reminder to me that God is love and when you get too far away from the love that God's not there as much, and that song means a lot to me personally.

'Remedy' is a reaching out of the hand to each other to try to remind each other of that, try to help share love with other people and that's what's gonna make a difference. I believe in what I said in 'Remedy' and I believe that other people need to center themselves around love and that'll make a difference, and that's what 'Remedy' is to me."
  • The Diego Pernía written and directed video is the first instalment in a trilogy. The nearly seven minute clip focuses on a young lady trying to help her alcoholic mother. The Zac Brown Band shared this plot summary:

"To escape from her self-destructive lifestyle and her alcoholic mother, a young woman runs into the forest to connect with her heritage, to find love and knowledge in a world where she must struggle to survive emotionally… When communication becomes impossible, the heritage of your ancestors, forgiveness and love, are the only way to heal."
