  • Well I keep holdin' on to yesterday
I keep holdin' on enough to say
    That I'm wrong

    I keep thinkin'that I'm lonely
But it's only missing you inside
Days that we were once together
    Seems they'll never come alive

So I keep holdin' on to yesterday
I keep holdin' on enough to say
    That it's wrong

Lord I don't know when I'll see you
    I can't reach you anymore
If I'd only known I'd need you
Then I'd keep you like before

I keep holdin' on to yesterday
I keep holdin' on enough to say
That I'm wrong, wrong, wrong To keep holdin' on
My yesterdays have all gone by

  • Scott from Portland, OregonI have loved this song since the 70’s. Only recently did it occur to me that David Pack, who is a Christian, was singing about having fallen away from a childhood relationship with God (“Lord I don’t when I’ll see you”). This interpretation makes sense if “Lord” is the object rather than a word of emphasis (like Steph’s comment, “God I hope he goes back…”). I can relate to the other comments here but sometimes the most obvious answer is right.
  • Steph JonesAgreed! I have been with an older guy. I think, although he will never admit it, I could see it in his eyes he needs to go home! I’ve never seen anybody swallow his pride as much as this guy. He’s been a player and I know this but it doesn’t mean he’s a horrible person. It’s because of what he has done but who cares! I hope he turns around for everything they’ve been through I’ve never seen a love like hers for him and I know I just know he feels the same but he is the most stubborn person and it is to his detriment. prayers Both of my parents taught me and my brothers well I don’t think he was taught what you love is and I do pray for him all the time! God I hope he goes back
  • J Cleary from LondonClassic Ambrosia! Awesome song. Great Hammond playing.
  • Dane from Lima,ohio, FlMy favorite Ambrosia song,by far.I love the words,the music,everything."If I'd only known I'd need you..."
  • Charles from Charlotte, NcThe four members of Ambrosia all played on Alan Parson Project's first LP 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' in 1976.
  • Barry from Greenville, NcGreat song and a find example of the multi-instrumental talent of this group. The violin underscores the sense of loss and longing.
