  • I'm so tired of being alone
These penitent walls are all I've known
    Songbird calling across the water
    Inside my silent asylum

Oh don't leave me on my own
    Left me standing all alone
Cut me down to size so I can fit inside
Lies that will divide us both in time

See the turncoat on his knees
A vagabond that no one sees
When a moon is throwing shadows
You can't save the ones you've caught in battle

Oh don't leave me on my own
    Left me standing all alone
Cut me down to size so I can fit inside
Lies you try to hide behind your eyes

Don't leave me on my own
Don't leave me on my own
So cut me down to size so I can fit inside
Lies that will divide us both in time Publisher: Kobalt Music Publishing Ltd.

  • Justagator from Wheeling, WvBelieve the lyric should be:

"When the moon is throwing shadows
You can't save the ones you've fought in battle"
  • Prashant Chauhan from IndiaThis is so heart touching. I love this.....i just can't help singing whenever I get to this track
  • Angela Midgley from Niskayuna, New YorkThis song so artfully sums up how I felt during my 2nd divorce. I was so tired of being alone while married, then I was also left standing alone with three kids. Alone when together and alone when separated seemed doubly painful to realize. I thought I had a partner, when really, I was always on my own. And now I have a snappy blue moon tattoo on my shoulder, so all is well. I'm grateful for the song.
  • Erica from Texarkana My favorite song from beck.
