  • One last cup of starlight
Before I wake and start my day
A past so filled with promise
Before I lost, I lost my way

Ah that's okay, and I'm alright
I guess I'll be lost again
    For one more night
Ooh and that's alright, I'm okay
    I'll wear the albatross
    For one more day

As the past recalls the romance
Before the bets and what you make
I lost my friend in between them
And that was more than I could take

Ah that's okay, and I'm alright
I guess I'll be lost again
    For one more night
Ooh and that's alright, I'm okay
    I'll wear the albatross
    For one more day

Ah that's okay, and I'm alright
I guess I'll be lost again
    For one more night
Ooh and that's alright, I'm okay
    I'll wear the albatross
    For one more day
    I'll wear the albatross
    For one more day
    I'll wear the albatross
    For one more day

And because I know I'm alright Writer/s: IAN THORNLEY

  • Madness from Canada"Albatross" - always made me think of the giant bird carrying things on it's back (Growing up on Disney's "Rescuer's Down Under" / Albatross Airlines). When I had kids and started a family, I found myself putting my own burdens/struggles second, with my kid's needs first. To me, the song always reflected how I'd feel and ultimately handle it (Pretending that "Im alright, That's ok" - Im here to carry the ones I love, on my back, first). The personal connection to this song always felt more like self-sacrifice (when a whole fam is grieving, for example) to be the "strong shoulder" for those who need you in that moment. Always used it as motivation to be strong for loved ones, even when it's hard to do.

Side note - saw these guys tonight, live... with my (now) teen musician son. They tore the house down!!!
