Into the Void

  • Rocket engines burning fuel so fast
Up into the night sky they blast
Through the universe the engines whine
Could it be the end of man and time?

Back on earth the flame of life burns low
    Everywhere is misery and woe
Pollution kills the air, the land and sea
Man prepares to meet his destiny, yeah

Rocket engines burning fuel so fast
Up into the black sky so vast
    Burning metal through the atmosphere
Earth remains in worry, hate and fear

With the hateful battles raging on
Rockets flying to the glowing sun
Through the empires of eternal void
    Freedom from the final suicide

Freedom fighters sent out to the sun
Escape from brainwashed minds and pollution
Leave the earth to all it's sin and hate
Find another world where freedom waits, yeah

Past the stars in fields of ancient void
Through the shields of darkness where they find
Love upon a land a world unknown
Where the sons of freedom make their home

Leave the earth to Satan and his slaves
Leave them to their future in their graves
Make a home where love is there to stay
Peace and happiness in every day Writer/s: Michael Butler, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, William Ward

  • Sabmandoo from NyCrunch crunch crunch........
  • Dwh from UsaI played this song from the LP album in a religion class at the christian high school I went to, then related the song to the bible story of exodus. Obviously the teacher was a very cool hippie dude! Still can't believe it happened....
  • Why Do You Wanna Know My Name from Why Do You Wanna Know Where I LiveThis is such an epic song
  • Luna Loud from Royal Woods, MichiganThere's one part in the ending solo that kind of reminds me of the solo in Zep's "Whole Lotta Love". You know, the part where the drums and bass make two hits, and then the guitar come in by it self with a short solo lick, and then it repeats again, and again...you know what I'm talkin' about, right?

Anyway, I always thought of this song like MOR's "War Pigs", because of the complicated song structure and somewhat similarly-themed lyrics, though I guess it has a lot in common with "Electric Funeral" too. Anyway, awesome song, and a great way to close out one of my favorite Sabbath albums.
  • Cindy from Pure DeliriumLove, love, love..Sabbath freakin' Rules!!!!
  • Emile from Perth, OnIt's the best song in master of reality
  • Doug from Kansas City, Molove it owned Master of Reality when there were such things as record albums. It wasnt as easy to get song lyrics then as it is now, but some artists were kind enuff to include them. Black Sabbath....the original heavy metal boys!
  • Lester from New York City, NyGreat Sabbath album, and 'Into the Void' is a MUCH better song than 'Electric Funeral'. Hard to believe it is 38 years since I first heard this song. 'Children of the Grave' is the best song on this album.
